In office applications in which Diodrum cannot be used, such as email body text, we use the Arial typeface.
Bancontact sound
Frequency and timing
The three short beeps produced by a payment terminal or a payment app after a successful transaction have become synonymous with Bancontact. Therefore, Bancontact has clear guidelines regarding the buzzers in order to ensure a consistent brand experience across different devices. Buzzers should always be used on POS terminals and mobile payment applications, unless technically impossible

Acceptance mark
What is an acceptance mark?
The acceptance mark ensures that the consumer can tell at a glance whether or not Bancontact is accepted by a Merchant. Therefore, all Merchants who accept Bancontact are advised to clearly indicate this by prominently displaying the Bancontact acceptance mark.
The same acceptance mark is used to indicate that payments with the Payconiq by Bancontact app are accepted by a Merchant. The acceptance mark shall never be displayed at a Merchant location where paying with Bancontact is not possible.
Where to be used?
An acceptance mark is frequently found in different locations in a store, such as at the cash register or in the store window. But we also find acceptance marks on websites, on order forms or in advertisements. There are no restrictions as to the type of medium. The most important requirement is that the medium is located where it is clearly visible and that the acceptance mark is clearly visible on the medium itself. For any other on site and external communication to denote that the ATM machine accepts Bancontact transactions, a specific Cash icon is to be used. The Cash icon can be freely used by the Bancontact ATM Acquirer Members, who shall always respect the icon guidelines.
An additional Bancontact trademark license is available for Bancontact ATM Acquirer Members who would like to use the Bancontact logo and look&feel as the dominant brand for the ATM network. More information is available upon request.

Use of guidelines: Bancontact acceptance
In-store
The following guidelines apply to any situation where Bancontact is accepted by the Merchant in a physical location. This physical location can be a POS terminal in a store, a portable terminal, an unmanned vending machine, an outdoor petrol terminal, etc. In all those situations, the Bancontact acceptance mark should be clearly and prominently displayed on or near the card acceptance device as per the acceptance mark guidelines.
General Rules
In all these situations, the Bancontact acceptance mark shall be clearly and prominently displayed on or near the card acceptance device as per the acceptance mark guidelines.
Never change the logo shape or lockup.
Never use the Bancontact wordmark seperately.
Never change the logo colours.
Wherever other acceptance marks are present, the Bancontact acceptance mark shall also be used.
The guidelines as described under ‘Bancontact logo combined with other logos’ equally apply
The logo shall always be clearly visible.
Online
The following guidelines apply to any situation where Bancontact is accepted by a Merchant through a virtual channel. This can be a website or an app. Note that if a Merchant uses digital displays in a physical location that allow a Cardholder to make purchases by scanning a Bancontact QR code, this would still be considered an online use case.
A Cardholder can pay with Bancontact on a Merchant’s website or app by either introducing the card number and expiry date of his Bancontact card or by using the Payconiq by Bancontact app or any banking app that has integrated Bancontact.
Regardless of whether the Cardholder is shopping on a Merchant’s website or app, the Bancontact acceptance mark must be displayed on the payment method selection page to indicate that the Merchant accepts Bancontact.
A Merchant can choose between two options when implementing the Bancontact acceptance mark on the payment method selection page:
- The dual Bancontact pay button
- The single Bancontact pay button
All the necessary designs can be downloaded here.
Dual Bancontact pay button
Payment method selection page
The Merchant displays the Bancontact acceptance mark twice on the payment method selection page: once as a pay button accompanied by the tag line “Pay with your Payconiq by Bancontact app or your banking app supporting Bancontact payments” and a second time accompanied by the tag line “Pay with your Bancontact card”.
Nederlands:
“Betaal met je Payconiq by Bancontact-app of met je bankapp die Bancontact-betalingen ondersteunt” and “Betaal met je Bancontact-kaart”
Français:
“Payez avec votre application Payconiq by Bancontact ou votre application bancaire qui supporte les paiements Bancontact” and “Payez avec votre carte Bancontact”
Payment page
Selecting “Pay with your Payconiq by Bancontact app or your banking app supporting Bancontact payments” will directly link to the single payment page with the QR code (or trigger the URL intent if a Cardholder is shopping on their mobile device that also contains the payment app).
Clicking “Pay with your Bancontact card” directly links to the single payment page where the Cardholder enters his card number and expiry date.
Back-up option: single pay button
Payment method selection page
The Merchant displays the Bancontact acceptance mark once, accompanied by the tag line “Pay with your Payconiq by Bancontact app or Bancontact card” on the payment method selection page. By clicking the Bancontact acceptance mark, a second page is displayed where the Cardholder will get the choice to pay by card or by app, as described on the next pages.
Nederlands:
“Betaal met je Payconiq by Bancontact-app of Bancontact-kaart”
Français:
“Payez avec votre application Payconiq by Bancontact ou carte Bancontact”
Payment page
After selecting “Bancontact” on the payment method selection page and confirming, the Cardholder will be redirected to the payment page. If the Merchant accepts both payment by card and payment by app, then the dual payment page will be displayed. If the Merchant only accepts payment by card, then the single payment page for card detail entry will be shown.

Storing Bancontact cards in e-wallets
Some Merchants allow their customers to store the payment credentials of their Bancontact card in an e-wallet to make the checkout experience easier for future purchases or to allow the Merchant to debit that payment card automatically in the case of recurring payments for subscription services. When the Cardholder is invited to store their Bancontact card, the Merchant has to ensure that:
- The Bancontact acceptance mark is clearly displayed to inform the Cardholder that he should enter the card credentials of a Bancontact card and not those of any other brand, as well as to make it clear that the stored credentials will be used to execute Bancontact transactions.
- The Cardholder’s consent is captured in an unambiguous way, for example by inviting him to check a box.
